Let’s adopt LSA standards

Canadians are rightfully proud of their accomplishments and influence on the aviation world. For a large country with a small population, we have an oversized footprint in the industry and its development. In this issue, you’ll see stories about the constant innovation that takes place at Canada’s third largest airline, First Air. While flying to the North is no longer a bone-rattling, teeth-chattering experience, it’s still not easy providing a “normal” airline experience to those traveling to some of the most inhospitable — but stunningly beautiful — places on Earth. Blair Watson also tells us the story about Viking Air and its well-received decision to resume production of the de Havilland Twin Otter. There’s just nothing to replace a STOL twin that has worked in an amazing variety of international specialized roles.
